Effectively isolate and consolidate the fibres of the MDF panels with White Idroprimer for MDF LVT555

Effectively isolate and consolidate the fibres of the MDF panels to obtain products of high aesthetic quality.

The application of water-based paints on Medium Density Fibre (MDF) products can result in the significant and unsightly swelling of the panel fibre. This effect can also occur following the application of several thick coats of primer and, consequently, the fibres are visible even after the application of the finish, if they are not correctly blocked by the primer.
Due to the irregular nature of the MDF, it is necessary to develop a specific primer which is however extremely flexible, adaptable and functional to MDF panels of various origin and composition.
With regard to this topic, Nuova Sivam’s R&D laboratories have developed a new water-based formula, specifically for the preparation of white primers for MDF furnishing elements or interior products.

The product range

White Idroprimer for MDF LVT555. The product can be diluted with water; to further improve the insulating capacity, the performance of the primer and the final appearance of the finish, 2% of LXA970 can be added or catalysed at 5% with LCW013 or LCW015.

Main characteristics

The product possesses high surface sanding and wetting properties, and also shows an excellent filling potential that minimizes the swelling of the fibre, even in the absence of additives or catalysts. Dries quickly in ideal conditions, making it sandable even after 1 hour.
It can also be applied vertically with a wet film thickness of up to 130 – 160 microns.

Comparisons with competitors

If compared with the typical transparent polyurethane primers, there is an increase of dry residue of about 20%.

The new product is at the highest quality levels seen on our market.

This product allows to carry out painting cycles on different types of MDF obtaining an excellent insulation of the fibres and consequently a high filling body, even with moderate amounts of primer or with just two coats.
